Si todo este catastrófico estado de cosas en el cual ahora estamos sumergidos, en buena medida proviene de exaltada capacidad de juego y experimento, quizá la necesaria involución civilizatoria - la sola idea de poder retroceder plantea un juego en sí - también debe venir de ahí. La ciencia, así como la fé, a través de sus intrincados sistemas de solemnidad y culpa, ya han tenido su oportunidad. Toca de nuevo la oportunidad al juego - y todas sus situaciones salvajes - la posibilidad de re-vertir, di-vertir, sub-vertir algo.
Wenn all diese katastrophalen Zustände, in die wir jetzt eingetaucht sind, zu einem großen Teil aus einer übersteigerten Spiel- und Experimentierfähigkeit stammen, dann muss vielleicht auch die notwendige zivilisatorische Involution - die bloße Vorstellung, zurückgehen zu können, stellt ein Spiel für sich dar - von dort kommen. Sowohl die Wissenschaft als auch der Glaube mit seinen verschlungenen Systemen von Feierlichkeit und Schuld haben bereits ihre Chance gehabt. Es ist wieder Zeit für das Spiel - und all seine wilden Situationen - die Möglichkeit, etwas umzudrehen, umzukehren, zu unterlaufen.
If this whole catastrophic situation we find ourselves in today results in good part from an excessive capacity for play and experimentation, then perhaps the necessary civilisational regression - the very idea of being able to go backwards is a game in itself - must also come from there. Both science and faith, with its intricate systems of solemnity and guilt, have already had their chance. It is time again for the game - and all its wild situations - the possibility to turn something around, to reverse, to subvert.
