I have seen

in my psychotherapeutic practice different ways of how the Gnostic cosmology can help human beings of today in their endeavor to expand their level of understanding of Reality. The symbols discovered and used by the Gnostic therapeutae of the second and third centuries A.D. are still effective in their ability and power to transform human consciousness.

One of the better-known symbols of the ancient Gnostic therapeutic systems is the Ouroboros, the serpent that eats its own tail (its own head/its own body/its own self). In Transpersonal Psychology, the Ouroboros stage has definitive implications in the development of personality, as well as in the evolution of human consciousness.

Listen here:

Empty drops burned like ideas from the abyss:
"What is 'I'?
What step is it on?
How can lost and distant words heal us?
Thirst is God
God is black soul female
Thirst for vital sweat
That Love leaves as a testimony
of an educational drama
How many tears do you enjoy?

Time retreated
Laughing at my shadows who were still asleep
While their master and lord
drugged prisoner I
dreamed of love divine

The heights of love
Orography of terrestrial tragedy
whims of creation
Unfolding in my privacy
Like mirrors of snail minds
Rising and disappearing on the same night
Daughters of the dew that dictates destiny
Of the retarded parishioner
On his way to Sunday mass

The distant bells
ringing across the fields
″Bringing the faithful to their knees″
An image that reproduced ad infinitum
Arriving diluted
Until my ears-eyes
almost closed.
I too fell to my knees
And I felt the thirst.

She is hidden in everything.
In the secrets of quotidian paradoxes
In the enigmas of banality
She is at the beginning and at the end of a circular line
whose beginning and dissolution
I cannot see a glimpse on the horizon.
It is in the library
Profane or pious
Of the sacrosanct poet
She hides in his solemn public life
and in his private life
in the bathroom
Of physiological opprobrium
Of his double and secret life
In the bright and dark acts
hidden from his wife
from his multiple mothers
And from himself
She is in the accents of his discarded poems
In the empty spaces
between the cold lines that no one will ever read.
There she is,
lurking from the center of the eye
the subtle laugh of the solar atom
Of a universe in gestation
Multiplying
right now
in the bowels
of our future dreams.

Questions:

  • What are those implications?
  • How are they connected with our evolution?
  • In what ways are they useful for me in my resolution to transform the immediate reality?
  • How can the ontological ritual of eating my head help me to reach a non-dual consciousness?
