From garden to territory
This story here also tells about
problematic development of a few
square metres of land. An age-old
story, then.
The etymology of the German word Garten goes back in the broadest sense to the Indo-Germanic gher and later ghortos. Also the term Gerte flowed in, meaning the material of wattle fences (cut willow and hazel rods) for fencing enclosure.
A territory is defined today as the space successfully appropriated by a person, group, or organization (e.g., state) and controlled through the exercise of power. The term territory can also be used metaphorically as a property marker (e.g. a mental territory).
Territorial borders and conflicts
are therefore not limited to
physical areas, but also extend to
our spiritual and mental world.
Any space that we feel is our own
becomes territory for us to defend.
Conflicts and tensions are the
result.

The order of things in a good life
Man as an invention of modernity
- that sounds progressive, but in
fact man developed so passive, so
enslaved to the desires, so utterly
powerless.
Since man has
been in the field of vision of
science, the more he has become
detached from the idea of coherence,
from the idea of coexistence, of
humility and respect.
The anthropocentric critique
In his book The order of things, Foucault describes how around 1900 man emerges as the object of science and immediately makes himself the measure of all things. Foucault does not examine the consious thinking and actions of individuals, but unconscious, supra-individual patterns of thought.
Michel Foucault
criticises the anthropocentric
orientation of modern science and
prophesies the imminent
disappearance of man as an object of
science.

thinking. Perhaps also the imminent
end."
Peter Sloterdijk works since years on the idea that people have always been made, in the cultures, as an interplay of class and caste rules, of marriage rules and upbringing rules - "all selection or combination rules".
In the meanwhile, additional
biotechnical optimisations are
coming into view: the
anthropotechnical age.
Sloterdijk
describes his philosophical work as
the transfer of metaphysics into a
new discipline: it is called
"general immunology". This
immunology provides a model of
knowledge with which Sloterdijk
wants to overcome the metaphysical
traditions.
Quote: "General immunology strats from the axiom that life is the success phase of an immun system - the term life here refers not only to biological organisms but also to the historical existence of cultures, people, institutions."
